Fluminense attacking midfielder Gerson has landed in Italy ahead of his medical at Roma, taking to Twitter to discuss his arrival.
The highly coveted youngster had been at the centre of a transfer battle between the Giallorossi and Barcelona, as the Spanish champions had a first option agreement with Fluminense.
Roma eventually agreed a deal for the 18-year-old, who has arrived in the capital.
Gerson announced his arrival to his 9,000 followers on Twitter, posting: “I have arrived in Italy. It was very nice to have such a good reception from the fans at the airport. Now I’ll have my medical at the club. #ForzaRoma”

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at the Maracana, breaking into the Tricolor’s first-team earlier this year. Although a deal has been agreed, Gerson won’t be eligible to play for Roma until January 2016 because of the Giallorossi’s excessive number of Non-EU players.
