Carpi coach Fabrizio Castori revealed he was happy with his side’s performance despite losing out 2-1 to Inter on Sunday night at the Stadio Alberto Braglia.

Carpi were unfortunate to not earn what would have been their first ever point in Serie A, but Stevan Jovetic’s late penalty ended that possibility.

“We played a great game,” Castori told reporters after the match.

“I’m happy with the performance from the boys.

“We stood up to Inter and the game remained balanced.

“The team created a good amount of chance and it’s unfortunate to lose out to a goal in the final minute.

“When you deserve points with this type of performance you should pick them up, not miss out.

“In my opinion, we should have had our own penalty in the first half, but it was not given.

“But the game is over now and we must just progress forward onto the next game.

“We have the correct mentality at the club it’s just a shame about the result.

“The positives shall be taken, because I really do believe I saw the real Carpi tonight.”
