Sampdoria beat Carpi 5-2 and Lazzari believes his side’s inexperience was costly.
“I am still happy as tonight everyone involved is now part of the club’s history,” Lazzari told reporters after the game.
“It has still been a great experience.
“It is unfortunate that we conceded early and never got going in the first half.
“We were lacking some experience in crucial moments in the match.
“The second half was a big improvement but it was far too late.
“We will use the final 45 minutes as a base to build upon.
“Next week we play Inter who are a great team and it will be another step up for us.”
