Carlo Tavecchio has said it has been a transitional year to prepare a system to compete with European football.

The president of FIGC has been in charge for a year now and spoke in Taormina about the past season and future plans to reform Italian football.

“It was a transitional season in which we have been preparing a system to catch up and compete with European football, and to do so we need a precise management,” he told reporters at a press conference.

“FIGC must participate in the management of the leagues, it is not possible to have people who transform a system in something that is not under control: we need rules.”

“We have problems when Antonio Conte has to call up players who werent born in Italy because Italians never play.

“I believe in the federation and things will get better, but we cannot afford to accept foreigners that simply are not good enough.
