Sunderland could offer Lorik Cana a return to football after being released by Lazio.

The Albanian international left the Biancocelesti after four years with the club despite having 12 months left on his contract and his next stop could be a return to the English Premier League side, who he played for in the 2009/10 season.

The Daily Mail reports that the Black Cats could sign the 32-year-old on a free transfer and give him the chance to play more football in order to secure his place in Albania’s squad for the 2016 European Championships.

Cana left Sunderland for Galatasaray in 2010 before moving to the Serie A side a season later, and has won the Coppa Italia during his time at the Stadio Olimpico.

Overall, he scored four goals in 111 games while in Italy.
