The Bergamo-born 23-year-old returned to Italy with the Gialloblu in 2013, following spells with English Premier League side Chelsea and Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter assigned a scout the job of evaluating the midfield star in action during Verona’s opening match of the season at home to Roma on Saturday evening, while Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli was also in attendance.

Sala featured throughout the entire 90 minutes, as Hellas earned a hard-fought point by way of a 1-1 draw against their well-fancied opponents from the capital.

He made 32 Serie A appearances to date since moving to the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, scoring three goals along the way.
