Inter defender Nemanja Vidic has been ruled out for 2015 through injury.
The Serbian is due to undergo a surgical procedure on a back hernia, potentially forcing Inter’s hand in the transfer market as they rush to bring in replacements ahead of the new season.
Sky Sport Italia say that Vidic will only be fully recovered from the problem in five months’ time, meaning that the earliest possible return date is the first month of 2016.
The 33-year-old endured a troubled campaign for the Nerazzurri last season, and there had been speculation that the club could look to sell the player during this current transfer window, a possibility that has now been eliminated with Tuesday’s news.
It is reported that Vidic had treatment on the condition at some point last month, but after failing to see improvement he has been scheduled for a surgical intervention.
