Inter have proposed a swap deal with Zenit St Petersburg with the intention of bringing full-back Domenico Criscito back to Italy, with Danilo D’Ambrosio offered to the Russians.
Criscito has been linked with a return to Serie A all summer, with former team Genoa also named as a possible destination for the 28-year-old.
However, it appears that the Nerazzurri have taken the lead in the race to sign the left-back and according Tuttomercatoweb.com, Zenit’s concerns about losing fellow full-back Cristian Ansaldi mean that the Russian champions are eager to bring in a replacement for Criscito before letting him go.
As a result, the Biscione have offered their unwanted defender D’Ambrosio to the Zenitchiki, although it’s not yet clear if the Italian would be interested in a move to Russia.
Criscito was a key part of Zenit’s title success in the 2014-15 Russian Premier League, making 25 league appearances.
