Lazio coach Stefano Pioli has admitted that his side have a tough Europa League group, but that they can get out of it.

The Biancocelesti are in Europe’s second-tier competition after failing to qualify for the Champions League, losing 3-1 to Bayer Leverkusen on aggregate despite winning the first-leg 1-0.

“It’s a very competitive group and balanced,” Pioli told reporters at his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s game against Chievo.

“Of course we will try to qualify, but we can not afford to underestimate any opponent.

“We must respect Dnipro, who last year finished as runners-up in this competition.

“Then Saint-Etienne took part in the group stage last season and also Rosenborg are always very dangerous.”

The Italian coach enjoyed a very good debut season with Lazio, surpassing expectations taking them to an excellent third placed finish above the likes of Napoli, AC Milan and Inter.
