Leicester City have announced the signing of Atalanta defender Yohan Benalouane.

The 28-year old joined La Dea on a permanent deal from Parma last summer after spending the second half of the previous campaign on loan in Bergamo.

The Foxes announced the transfer on their official Twitter account, saying: “BREAKING: #lcfc complete the signing of defender @YohanBenalouane from @Atalanta_BC. More follows. #WelcomeYohan”

The French-born defender is registered to represent Tunisia internationally but has rejected call ups from the North African nation in recent years.

The Foxes have recently changed coaches bringing in former Roma coach Claudio Ranieri in place of Nigel Pearson, with the Italian tactician turning to Serie A in a bid to resolve the club’s defensive problems.

Benalouane made 27 appearances and scored one goal during the 2014-15 Serie A season.
