Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers expects strikers Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini to leave the club before the summer transfer window closes.

The two Italians were left out of Liverpool’s 1-0 win at Stoke City on the first day of the English Premier League season and have been destined for moves away for a while after putting in disappointing performances last term for the Reds.

“I think it is natural that players will leave at this time of the season,” Rodgers told the press.

“There will be changes to the squad over the coming hours and days.”

Both players have had interest from Serie A sides with 24-year-old Borini being linked with Fiorentina and Lazio, where he would hope to achieve better than the three goals he got in 38 games last season.

Balotelli, meanwhile, has had interest from Sampdoria, despite netting just once in the league last season.
