Javier Hernandez (Mexico):Torino were interested in signing Mexican striker Javier Hernandez from Manchester United but the player is now poised to stay at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old was also linked with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur but will now be kept by the Red Devils following the departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Granata had hoped that the sale of Matteo Darmian to United had created a good relationship between the two clubs that would aid them in negotiations for the Mexican international.

Toro had intended to sign the player on loan with an option to make a move permanent after a certain number of appearances.

However, Sky Sports report that Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal now wishes to keep Hernandez as the player has moved up the pecking order because of the aforementioned departures in attack.

Hernadez scored seven goals from 23 appearances as he spent the 2014-15 season on loan with Real Madrid.
