Hellas Verona defender Rafael Marquez feels he has learnt much from team-mate Luca Toni as he has never played alongside anybody similar to the 38-year-old before.
The Mexican defender also announced that he is determined to improve during his second season with the Gialloblu.
“It’s the start of my second year in Serie A, I know Italian football better and I am very determined,” said Marquez at a press conference ahead of Verona’s season opener at home to Roma.
“In my entire career, I have never known anybody like Toni before, I have learnt a lot from him about how to conduct myself.”
The former Barcelona defender also believes that the Scaligeri will have to be patient on Saturday and know when to attack against a strong Roma team.
“Roma have a lot of quality up front, we have to understand when to attack and when to defend,” said Marquez.
Marquez made 26 appearances for Hellas during the 2014-15 Serie A season and he picked up three red cards.
