Jonathan de Guzman has turned down a move to English side Sunderland.
The Napoli midfielder only joined the club last season but it appears his future lies away from the Italian outfit although he will not be joining the Black Cats.
According to Sport Italia, De Guzman talked with Sunderland but was not convinced by the project at the club.
The Dutchman had looked close to a move to French side Marseille due to being unwanted by the Partenopei’s new coach Maurizio Sarri but it appears that De Guzman is not eager to join the French side either.
De Guzman is not set to wait for the rest of the transfer window to see if he receives any more appealing offers.
The former Villarreal midfielder has already had a spell in the Premier League with Swansea City.
