Alberto Gilardino GenoaNapoli are considering making a move for Alberto Gilardino, who is likely to leave Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande this summer.

The Italian veteran spent the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina and was expected to make his move permanent at the end of the season, however La Viola have since stalled on making a deal, freeing up the possibility for a move elsewhere.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri sees the experienced striker as a back up to to main man Gonzalo Higuain, with Duvan Zapata being loaned out to Udinese.

While no official contact has yet been made, the reports states that Napoli could make an enquiry before the end of next week.

However, it is widely beleieved that Gilardino will hold out on any offers until his situation with Fiorentina is resolved, as he views the Tuscans as his preferred destination.
