Palermo.

The 33-year-old spent the latter half of last season on loan at Fiorentina and although he was keen to remain with the Viola, no permanent move came to fruition and he found himself back in China. However a move back to the peninsula is back on the cards with the Rosanero ready and waiting.

Gilardino is now ready to terminate his contract with Guangzhou and sign a three-year deal with Palermo, according to gianlucadimarzio.com. It is also reported that Inter could make a late move for the former AC Milan forward depending on the severity of Mauro Icardi’s injury, but are likely to be too late in their pursuit with the Rosanero on the cusp of completing a deal.

The well-travelled marksman is one of the highest scorers in the history of Serie A, having scored 178 goals in the Italian top flight for the likes of Hellas Verona, Parma, Fiorentina and Genoa.
