Italian striker Alberto Gilardino could be all set for a move to Palermo.

The former World Cup winner has been targeted by the Sicilian side as they look to freshen up their squad following the departure of forwards Andrea Belotti and Paulo Dybala.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the Rosanero’s interest in giving the 33-year-old a contract has already been recognised and accepted by the player, and they have submitted two offers to his current club.

Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande will be able to choose between a loan with the right for the Italians to buy him permanently at the end of the spell, or a deal to sign him outright immediately.

The former Fiorentina man returned to La Viola on loan in the second half of last season, while he has also had spells at Parma, AC Milan, Hellas Verona and Bologna in his career.
