Roma centre-back Leandro Castan has expressed his delight on social media ahead of his first competitive match in almost a year, following a serious health scare last season.
The 28-year-old underwent a successful brain operation back in December to remove a cavernoma, caused by a build-up of fluid on the brain, after suffering dizzy spells against Empoli last September.
And prior to the Giallorossi’s opening Serie A game of the season, Castan took to Twitter revealing his excitement about beginning the new campaign.
“What a joy to return to the Serie A after a year and I want to win right away with the boys Forza Roma,” Castan wrote on Twitter.
Che gioia tornare nella Serie A dopo un anno ed voglio vincere subito , daje ragazzi, forza Roma.

Castan’s injury reduced him to just the solitary appearance last season and will be looking forward to featuring heavily for boss Rudi Garcia this year.
