Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has confirmed that an offer will be made for Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

There has been much speculation of a return to Serie A for the Italian who has been knocked further down the pecking order at Anfield as a consequence of the signing of Christian Benteke, while Antonio Cassano has called on the misfit striker to join him in a strike partnership at the club.

According to Sportmediaset, Ferrero has placed the forward at the top of his wish list and is determined to make him a star player in his team.

The 25-year-old only managed just one goal in sixteen appearances for the Reds last season and after his disappointing debut season at the club a move away seems imminent.

Still, despite the undeniable links between Balotelli and Sampdoria, there have been reports suggesting that Monaco have offered striker Dimitar Berbatov to the Blucrechiati as well, as they continue to search for a player to replace Samuel Eto’o as a centre forward.
