Palermo skipper Stefano Sorrentino spoke about the possibility of the Rosaneri adding Alberto Gilardino to their ranks.

The Sicilians have been on the hunter for added reinforcements in attack after the departure of Paulo Dybala to Juventus, and have been linked to many names throughout the market including Arsenal outcast Joel Campbell, and most recently Gilardino, who is currently owned by Chinese Super League Side Guangzhou Evergrande.

Sorrentino spoke to the media after his side’s 2-1 victory over Avellino in the Coppa Italia, saying: “I’ll go directly to the airport [to retrieve Gilardino]. Maybe he is getting older, however he is still able to reach a dozen goals. Needless to say [Gilardino] will be of added value to us.”

Palermo will be in the hunt for additional options with reports of Italian Under-21 international striker Andrea Belotti close to a move to Torino as the market closes on August 31.
