Xherdan Shaqiri is set to join Stoke City from Inter provided that the remaining complications in the transfer can be ironed out.

The 23-year-old was spotted at the Potters’ Premier League opener against Liverpool and has reportedly since passed his medical.

According to The Guardian, Shaqiri is set to move to Stoke in a deal worth around €17 million which would be a record fee for the side from Staffordshire.

The Swiss international previously expressed reluctance to move to Stoke as he wanted to fight for his place with the Nerazzurri, but appeared to change his mind after Inter issued an ultimatum telling him to leave or face sitting on the bench for a season.

The player was also linked to Schalke 04 in Germany along with Everton and Newcastle United in England and the Stoke Sentinel reports that the Potters cannot confirm the sale as the Premier League duo are still tracking the player.

Bayern Munich also reportedly have a say in the player’s future and must give the go ahead after before a deal can be finalised after Shaqiri joined Inter from the German champions in January 2015.

Shaqiri made 15 appearances for Inter during the 2014-15 Serie A season and scored one goal.
