Torino coach Giampiero Ventura was happy with the 4-1 Coppa Italia win over Pescara, but remained cool-headed about it.

The Granata fell behind early on at the Stadio Olimpico, but found a quick response and ultimately eased past their Serie B opponents with goals by Daniele Baselli, Afriyie Acquah, Maxi Lopez, and Josef Martinez.

“It was our first official match and [Pescara] had a different rhythm than us, they were faster,” Ventura told Rai Sport.

“After falling behind, it was good to see the maturity and poise which helped us score four goals.

“We are at the beginning, but there was great desire shown on everyone’s part.

“We did not want to concede, but doing so was positive given the reaction of the team, which did very well what it had to do.”

Despite the good performance of the 23-year-old Baselli, the 67-year-old specialist made it clear that it is too early to praise the talented youngster.

“These games can give signals, but no certainties,” he said.

“There is a lot more hard work to be done, but there is a desire to grow.”
