Palermo 3-2 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday night in Serie A, securing Milan’s second win of the season.

Carlos Bacca got the first of the game, popping the ball calmly in from six yards prior to Oscar Hiljemark’s leveller from a well placed header. Giacomo Bonventura curled home a free-kick to restore the lead before Hiljemark grabbed his second of the day. The scoring was complete when Bacca got his brace thanks to a smart header.

A whipped in cross fell to the feet of Bonaventura 20 minutes in, before the Italian laid off a neat back-heel to Bacca who toe-poked the ball passed Stefano Sorrentino.

The game sprungĀ to lifeĀ from that moment onward, with the away side drawing level just after the half hour, with Hiljemark heading home, leaving Diego Lopez in no man’s land.

Bonaventura wouldn’t hold back any longer, and was on hand to give Milan the lead once more. This time a free-kick was awarded to the Rossoneri, allowing the 26-year-old to curl home a beauty of an effort prior to half-time.

As the game entered the final 2o minutes, Milan pushed on to double their lead but fell flat on their face when Hiljemark was on the ‘mark’ yet again. This time substitute Alberto Gilardino was the man at the centre of it all, playing a deft flick into the path of the Swede who tucked the ball under Lopez.

The Rossoneri came back firing, and just three minutes later they led again. It was Bacca who brought the advantage back to Milan, heading home from a perfect ball delivered by Juraj Kucka.

The result saw Palermo succumb to their first loss of the new Serie A campaign.
