AtalantaAlberto Grassi Atalanta‘s young midfielder Alberto Grassi has revealed his delight at the trust shown in him by La Dea coach Edy Reja, and revealed that he is dreaming of pushing for European qualification this season.

The 20-year-old is the latest in a long line of youth graduates to come through in Bergamo, and has become an important member of the first team this season following the departure of fellow academy product Daniele Baselli, who Grassi came on for to make his Orobici debut last season.

Speaking to Corriere di Bergamo, Grassi spoke about his role in the team.

“I am happy with the confidence [Edy] Reja has in me,” he stated.

“I am always available to play, I try to train as well as I can and then it is up to the boss,” Grassi added.

The youngster is evidently grateful to his teammates and the club’s policy of focusing on youth.

“I can see that the club wants to focus on me,” he said.

“[Giulio] Migliaccio helps me a lot, but [Carlos] Carmona and [Luca] Cigarini are no different.

“We have a lot of players of quality.”

The Italian concluded by admitting that he did dream of making a push for European football, but the team were not getting ahead of themselves despite their good start to the Serie A season.

“Of course, it would be a dream to qualify for Europe.

“We can hope, but first we have a lot of hard work to do.”
