Federico Bernardeschi - Fiorentina's new number 10.Fiorentina forward Federico Bernardeschi is pleased with his team’s performance against against a Carpi side which he described as ‘very difficult’.

The Italian youngster was given a start by coach Paulo Sousa alongside fellow Primavera youth product Khouma Babacar, who went on to score the winning goal late into the first half.

The victory moves La Viola up into third place in Serie A, and Bernardeschi believes his side can take great satisfaction from such a result.

“I’m very happy for this win,” he told journalists after the game.

“It’s very difficult [at the Stadio Alberto Bragli] and I am convinced that many sides will struggle here.

“It’s not easy to win two games 1-0 whilst suffering throughout.

“But we are a very practical and compact side.

“Now we just have to stay this compact and we can achieve great things.”

Bernardeschi then congratulated his team-mate on scoring the winning goal before addressing questions regarding his role in attack.

“Babacar is a great player,” he continued.

“I’m delighted for him.

“As for myself, the coach wants to teach me more than one role on the pitch so that I can play more.”
