bolognaBologna grabbed their first win since returning to Serie A after defeating fellow newcomers Frosinone 1-0 at home at the Renato Dall’Ara in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

Anthony Mounier’s goal in the first half was enough to give the Rossoblu all three points.

The home team got their first opportunity through Franco Brienza, whose shot from the edge of the penalty area after eight minutes harmlessly soared wide of Nicola Leali’s goal.

Right before the half-hour mark, Mounier met a perfect long cross from Marios Oikonomou deep inside the box and released a powerful low shot toward the far corner, which ended up exactly where he wanted it and gave Bologna the lead.

Shortly after, Frosinone had a rare chance on goal when Samuele Longo and Aleandro Rosi only had to tap the ball into the net with their head while Mirante was on the ground, but a defender got to the ball first and cleared.

At the other end, the Canarini dispossessed deep inside their half and Brienza was found completely unmarked at the top of the box, from where he released a first-touch shot, but Blanchard threw himself on the way of the ball to protect Leali’s goal.

With 20 minutes to play, Brienza tried to produce some danger in front of Leali’s goal with a long-range shot, but the Canarini’s young goalkeeper dealt well with the veteran’s attempt.

After 77 minutes, Rosi produced a cross from the right which was headed toward goal by Ciofani. Mirante was well beaten but Bologna’s lead was saved by the crossbar.

Another Rosi cross in the final minutes got a deflection off a defender’s foot and went straight on goal, but again the Rossoblu were saved by the crossbar in what was Frosinone’s last good chance to salvage a point.
