Higuain - NapoliCarpi drew with Napoli 0-0 at the Stadio Alberto Braglia on Wednesday night in Serie A, ending Napoli’s streak of five games with a goal.

Both sides began on the front foot, with Napoli’s Allan and Carpi’s Gaetano Letizia both sending in teasing crosses that failed to be met with the right connection on goal.

It was the home side who’d create the opening chance,  Simone Romagnoli directed a header just wide of Pepe Reina’s goal after the quarter hour mark.

Carpi goalkeeper Francesco Benussi picked up an injury and was substituted for Zeljko Brkic soon after, with the new man between the sticks getting stuck into the action right away.

The biggest opportunity arrived ten minutes prior to the interval when Marek Hamsik connected with a free header, but it ended up going straight down the throat of Brkic for an easy save.

Lorenzo Insigne came out of the tunnel ready to stamp his authority following a quiet opening half, striking a fierce shot after some great trickery with his shot flying just wide of the post.

As the match entered the final 20, the game became stretched, with both sides in question exchanging half chances, only to see the end product end up falling wide of the mark.

Arguably the most exciting piece of action during the match was when the sprinklers came on during a Napoli corner with ten minutes remaining.

Napoli did have one final attempt on goal,  substitute Jose Callejon directed home a whipped in cross but was correctly ruled out for offside.

The result meant Carpi bagged their second point this season, but have still failed to record any victory in Serie A thus far.
