Fabrizio Castori CarpiCarpi coach Fabrizio Castori has underlined the attitude that he believes his player’s must show in their upcoming game against Roma, whilst praising the Lupi’s captain Francesco Totti.

The Biancorossi earned another point in their fight for salvation after they held Napoli to a 0-0 draw at home midweek, and the Serie A newcomers will be hoping to achieve yet another historical result as they head to the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

“We are satisfied with the way that we played in the last few games,” Castori began in his pre match press conference.

“We had two very good games against Palermo and Napoli, and we managed to take two points. We could have even won those games, and it gives us the belief that we can go up against the stronger teams.

“I am pleased with the growth of the team, we’ve faced three big clubs in a row which has helped us both mentally and physically. It has given us the confidence to always do well.

“In fact, we are the only club to have scored against Inter [so far this season], which is a great thing because while I don’t believe they [Inter] will win everything, they are certainly doing very well.

The Italian kept a level head however, and identified the improvements his team must make if they wish to continue matching up against the big teams.

“We can’t compare ourselves to Roma who, regardless of their consistency so far, are a team of great quality.

“Instead we have to think about ourselves, we need to show a great amount of concentration, intensity and humility. We must believe that we can do it. Otherwise there is less chance of  us being able to bridge the technical gap with the bigger teams. ”

Castori will certainly be expecting the maximum out of his players, especially as some key names remain sidelined with injuries. In addition to Francesco Benussi [who suffered an injury against Napoli] Luca Marrone, Nicolas Spolli, Jerry Mbakogu and Kamil Wilczek will all be unable to play.

Concluding, the 61-year-old spoke of his delight to play against Roman idol, Totti.

“It is an honour to play against him [Totti].

“It’s something that until a few years ago I wouldn’t have even dreamed of.

He’s a great champion who is already in the history of Italian football.”
