Serie A newcomers Carpi have sacked coach Fabrizio Castori after just six games of their debut season in the top flight.

The Biancorossi have experienced difficulty adjusting to life in Serie A after failing to win a single one of their opening six games, forcing the hand of the owner Stefano Bonacini, who has now relieved Castori of his duties.

The announcement was made via Carpi’s official website just two days after their heavy 5-1 defeat against Roma.

Carpi FC 1909 announces that it has today exonerated coach Fabrizio Castori. Carpi wishes to thank Castori for the work that he has done for the club, always with great professionalism and dedication,” a club statement read.

The 61-year-old tactician made history with the Emilia-Romagna based outfit after taking the outsiders to the top of Serie B during his first year in charge of the club.

Former Catania coach Giuseppe Sannino is believed to be the leading name to take over Castori’s role.
