Roma striker Seydou Doumbia has revealed he failed to settle in the Italian capital following his move from CSKA Moscow.
The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international joined the Giallorossi on the last day of the January transfer window in 2015 on a four-and-a-half-year deal for a fee in the region of €15 million. Doumbia returned to CSKA Moscow on a season-long loan deal in August.
“From the first day I did not feel at ease in Rome. I needed to find myself,” Doumbia told africatopsports.com.
“There were clubs in England interested but I chose to return to CSKA Moscow because they will be playing in the Champions League.
“Right now I am owned by Roma but am ready to help CSKA. I hope to continue the adventure at CSKA. I do not think I can go back to Rome.”
Doumbia made just 13 appearances for last season’s Serie A runners-up, scoring two goals.
