Kevin-Prince Boateng has been given permission by Schalke to return to AC Milan and train with the team ahead of a possible January move.

The midfielder made sixty appearances for the Bundesliga side before being handed an indefinite suspension at the end of last term due to ill discipline of the pitch.

Milan took to twitter to reveal the news.

The 28-year-old was due to leave Schalke in the summer regardless of the suspension, though he was unable to find any interested parties in Europe prior to the transfer window deadline.

Prior to his largely unsuccessful move to Schalke, Boateng plied his trade at Milan from 2010-2013, making 100 appearances for the Rossoneri during that period
