Legendary Roma star Giuseppe Giannini has given his take on an injury to Miralem Pjanic and his former club’s moves in the transfer market.
It has been revealed that Bosnian star Pjanic will be out for at least two weeks with a calf injury suffered last weekend while on international duty, but the one-time Giallorossi captain sees no reason to panic.
“It’s a heavy blow, but Roma have the means to make up for his absence,” said Giannini in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.
“They will replace him with another top player.
“Tactically, I don’t know how [Roma coach Rudi] Garcia will set up, but I don’t think it’ll be a big problem, given the squad he has and how well they did in the transfer market.”
The 51-year-old then expanded on his thoughts about Roma’s success during the summer window, when a host of big-name recruits arrived in the capital.
“They filled gaps in the squad, and also bought some interesting players,” he continued.
“[Edin] Dzeko certainly was the icing on the cake.
“He’s a player with experience, who can also handle pressure from the fans.
“Gerson, they say, is also very good. I’m curious to see him play at the Olimpico.”
Il Principe [The Prince] made over 300 appearances for the Giallorossi, as well as turning out for Lecce and Napoli during a glittering career.
