Romulo - VeronaHellas Verona midfielder Romulo is confident ahead of Sunday’s match against Torino and has high expectations for the Gialloblu in 2015-16.

The Brazilian midfielder suffered numerous injury setbacks that limited him to only four league appearances during a loan spell at Juventus last term but spoke positively about the new season.

“It has been a very good start, even though last year we had a great season,” said the 28-year-old at a Verona press conference.

“We’ve only played two games, but the draw with Roma counts for us as a victory.

The former Fiorentina player then turned his attention to Sunday.

“We are preparing well, the coach is training us specifically for Torino, working hard on tactics.

“I am sure that on Sunday we will turn in a great performance.”

When asked about his return to the club, Romulo explained what had and had not changed.

“What have I found at Verona?” he began.

“That we always really want to win. The coach is well prepared to meet the commitments we made for the season.

“The club added a lot of strong players, including [Giampaolo] Pazzini, which will help us a lot.

“We hope that the Verona can have a better season than in years past but in Italy it is always difficult, as the top teams are being strengthened more and more.

Finally, the versatile midfielder hinted at a pragmatic approach from the Mastini.

“The coach and the staff are working to concede as few goals as possible.

“The goal is to win 1-0 but to still win it easily.”
