Sandro Mazzola - InterInter legend Sandro Mazzola believes the match against arch-rivals AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday will be a close encounter.

Mazzola, who spent his entire 17-year playing career with the Nerazzurri, insisted it will be an even contest when both Milan clubs do battle at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“I expect a hard-fought derby. There will be a lot of tension because both teams want to try and win an important game,” Mazzola told Tuttomercatoweb.

The 72-year-old also gave his opinion that Roberto Mancini’s men were more successful than their counterparts during the summer transfer window and stated patience will be crucial to see if Inter can perform consistently.

“Inter have got to play better with the new purchases, but it takes time,” Mazzola continued.

“I see Milan behind Inter because their [Inter’s] market was better, more complete.

“They made a lot of good purchases.”

The former Italian international also reserved praise for injured Rossoneri midfielder Andrea Bertolacci, after receiving criticism for his early season performances.

“I fear for Bertolacci because I think he’s a very good midfielder and capable of scoring goals, however he just needs time to adapt.”
