Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin hopes his match-winning goal in last Sunday’s Milan derby will go down in history as an indication of a successful season for the Nerazzurri.

The Colombian’s second-half goal gave Roberto Mancini’s side the victory over city rivals AC Milan and maintained their winning start to the new Serie A season.

“Let’s hope the goal does go down in history because that would mean that we’ll have had an important season,” said Guarin in an interview with Inter’s official website.

“Scoring in and winning the derby is a great feeling.”

The 29-year-old went on to discuss Inter’s upcoming game away to Chievo, who themselves are unbeaten so far this season.

“We need to show responsibility and maturity on Sunday,” he said.

“Everything has changed and that’s down to coach [Roberto] Mancini.

“We have to be at 100% and prove what we can do in every match.”
