chievo v empoliJuventus drew 1-1 with Chievo at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday night in Serie A, earning the home side their first point of the season.

Perparim Hetemaj scored the opener with a sumptuous first-time hit from the edge of the box before Paulo Dybala slammed home a late penalty.

In what can best be touted as a must win game for Juventus, the home side made the worst possible start when they fell behind after just five minutes.

Hetemaj was the early hero, slicing a perfect outside-of-the-boot shot that spun out of the reach of a despairing Gianluigi Buffon.

The Bianconeri attempted to hit back straight away –  Alvaro Morata stinging the palms of Albano Bizzarri before Roberto Pereyra spurned an easy chance.

An open game ensued with Massimiliano Allegri’s side dominating possession but failing to take their chances, with the away team resorting to a defensive counter-attacking display.

The Juventus desperation continued all the way to half-time, resorting in a barrage of long shots and floated crosses that failed to create any real opening.

It seemed inevitable Chievo would replicate their quick start from the first-half right after the break, but Buffon produced incredible cat-like reflexes to deny Alberto Paloschi.

Juventus regrouped and begun their repetitive and rather non-clinical nature prior to the hour mark when Pereyra spanked the post, only for substitute Paul Pogba to see his shot blocked before Dybala blazed over.

Soon after, Chievo thought they’d doubled their lead when Bostjan Cesar nipped in at the back post but the goal was disallowed.

Hernanes saw his strike saved before Juan Cuadrado earned his new club a penalty in the final ten minutes. Dybala stepped up and smashed the ball into the top right corner to level proceedings.

The draw means Chievo remain unbeaten so far, with Juventus gaining a valuable first point.
