de-vrijLazio are worried about Stefan De Vrij’s fitness after he picked up an injury during the Netherlands’ Euro qualifier defeat against Turkey.

The defender was substituted during the 3-0 loss to Turkey after reportedly suffering an injury to his left knee. It was known however that the 23-year-old had come to an agreement with the medical staff of the Dutch team prior to the match that he was fit enough to play.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, it is feared that De Vrij may have suffered a meniscus injury in his left knee which could see him face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

“I also felt a bit of pain in my back during the match, but it was mainly the knee that was bothering me,” De Vrij told reporters after the game against Turkey.

“So I decided to ask if I could come off at half-time.”
