ghoulam napoliStrongly expected to join Inter before the summer transfer window closed, agent Oscar Damiani has expressed his amazement that a deal to take Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam to the Nerazzurri did not reach completion.

The 24-year-old made the move to the Stadio San Paolo in 2014 and despite impressing during his first six months with the club, he has since struggled for appearances following the departure of former coach Rafael Benitez.

“From what I understand Ghoulam was about to leave Napoli,” Damiani told Radio CRC.

“[President Aurelio] De Laurentiis had decided to invest the money from his sale in other players, but in the end remained in Naples.

“What surprises me is that I do not know how this transfer has been able to fail.”

After signing from Ligue 1 club Saint-Etienne, the French-born youngster made 15 outings in a Napoli shirt and was included in Algeria’s 2014 World Cup squad where they exited at the Round of 16 stage.
