New York City striker David Villa has praised his team mate and Italian international Andrea Pirlo.
The World Cup winners have teamed up in Major League Soccer after the former Juventus midfielder made the move across the Atlantic after claiming a fourth successive Scudetto with Juventus.
Speaking to Tuttosport, the former Valencia, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid forward was full of praise for the 36-year-old regista.
“The team can count on Pirlo,” he began.
“He is simply fantastic,” Villa asserted.
“Pirlo is outstanding and it is a pleasure for anyone to play with him.
“For me, as a striker, it is even more special.
“You have to be alert every second of the game, because with one pass he can find you at any moment, even when it seems impossible.”
New York have had a disappointing season, and currently sit 8th in the Eastern Conference of MLS having played 27 games.
