Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti has said that enigmatic striker Antonio Cassano represents the extra quality in the Blucerchiati squad for this season.

The 33-year-old returned to Il Doria in August and Osti has witnessed the usually-problematic Cassano fitting in well with the current squad since his arrival in Genoa.

“Cassano is doing very well. I have never had the good fortune to work with him,” Osti told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’m working here a bit and he is looking for his best form. He is integrating with the group, he has enthusiasm and I think there will not be any problems.

“I hope he can return to the field as soon as possible because he can represent our added value.”

Cassano is one of a few new signings at Sampdoria this season, which also include Edgar Barreto, Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, Niklas Moisander and Carlos Carbonero.
