Genoa was down to the fact he was ready mentally to make an impact.

The Bianconeri eventually went on beat the Rossoblu 2-0, with their goals coming through a Paul Pogba penalty and a Eugenia Lammana own goal, they were also helped by a sending-off which was given to Grifone defender Armando Izzo.

“Before the game you have to be in the right mental state,” Pereyra told Sky Sport Italia.

“Then you can either make an impact or not, it’s something that happens to everyone.

“I came on and everything went well.

“The coach [Massimiliano Allegri] asked me to play in the role that Morata had been doing so well in until he went off.

“I did what he asked of me.

“I proved why I am worthy to be starting games for this team.”
