Pepe Reina – 6.5 – Untested

A comfortable evening for the Spaniard who was tested little by the Belgian outfit.

Elseid Hysaj – 6 – Simple

Certainly more active going forward than defensively and was allowed to burst forward at times to assist the attack. Produced some useful crosses into the forwards to limited success

Kalidou Koulibaly – 6 – Robust

Did well to intercept some Brugge passes and broke up play effectively to limit the minimal threat Napoli’s opponents posed.

Raul Albiol – 6 – Comfortable

A quiet evening for the central defender who did not look challenged by what Brugge could throw at him.

Faouzi Ghoulam – 6 – Quiet

An easy match for the Algerian who contributed well for much of the match and managed to get a few shots away despite none finding the target.

Marek Hamsik– 6.5 – Holding

Playing in a more defensive role he shot from distance at times to minimal success. Passed well at times and got a goal early in the second half. With the game won he sacrificed midway through the second half.

Jorginho– 6.5 – Improving

Assisted Mertens second with a well lofted pass who impressed in his deep midfield role.

David Lopez – 7 – Dynamo

One of Napoli’s players who retained his impact throughout the match. Equally active in providing and creating chances himself.

Jose Callejon– 8 – Brilliant

Opened the scoring with a beautiful cross come shot from the right flank for his first goal of the season and followed up with an assist for Mertens shortly after. Got his second following a well timed pass round of a great performance.

Dries Mertens – 8 – Impressive

Did superbly in and around the box with two well timed finishes to ensure the home side started their Europa league campaign with a win.

Gonzalo Higuain – 6 – Outshone

Looked less impressive surrounded by forwards who created and finished opportunities with ease. Substituted half way through the second half after a limited impact.

Allan – 6 – Uneventful

Came on but lacked sparkle as the Azzurri took the foot off the gas

Manolo Gabbiadini – N/A –

Lorenzo Insigne- N/A
