Preziosi genoaGenoa president Enrico Preziosi has criticised the decision to send off Armando Izzo in Genoa’s defeat to Juventus on Sunday.

The defender was shown a second booking for a foul on Juan Cuadrado, leaving the Grifone facing a difficult task to keep up with the champions.

“Right now we have too many players absent,” said Preziosi to ANSA.it.

“As for the sending off [for Izzo], I think the first yellow card was justified but not the second, which was an absurd decision.

“It was as if the referee was waiting to show the red card.”

However, he then went on to admit that he had expected Genoa to endure a difficult start to the season and looked forward to the more winnable fixtures in the future.

“We knew that we would have an uphill challenge at the start of the season,” said Preziosi.

“Other teams have faced two newly promoted sides in three games; sooner or later we will catch them up. We were just unlucky with the fixture list.”
