Juventus, Conferenza stampa di presentazione di Alex SandroFormer Brazilian left-back and World Cup winner Roberto Carlos has revealed new Juventus signing Alex Sandro has the ability to be his successor.

The 42-year-old, who played for Inter in Serie A prior to his 11-year stay at Real Madrid, spoke highly of his Brazilian counterpart.

“It’s true, he is like me and if this continues he can become my successor,” Carlos told Tuttosport.

“You will all see this and be satisfied with what lays before you,” he added.

“Alex is a good man and also very intelligent.

“He’s what you would call a ‘technical’ or ‘modern’ full-back that both defends and attacks.”

The former Real Madrid player went on to joke that despite his undoubted ability, the new Juventus full-back does not quite boast the shooting ability of his compatriot.

“I see myself a little in Sandro, but he doesn’t have a shot like me.

“There are few that have my shot!”

The interview concluded with a question regarding another Juventus new boy and former Inter man – Hernanes.

“I do not understand why any Juve supporters would be skeptical.”

“He has the quality and technical ability whilst also playing in the Brazilian national team.

“I’m sure he’ll fit in well.

“He could even be touted as the Brazilian Pirlo.

“If he wishes to attack and play as a playmaker, he can, but I see him better in front of the defence where he can direct play.”
