AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli believes his side are far away from winning the Serie A title although maintains that they are aiming for a Champions League return.

The 20-year-old starred in Milan’s 3-2 victory away to Udinese, a win which sees the Diavolo temporarily move up the table with just their third victory of the season.

“We conceded two really stupid goals,” Romagnoli told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“We wanted to win without conceding, and it made [Milan coach Sinisa] Mihajlovic nervous.

“However, the important thing is to win and next time we’ll just try to do it while keeping a clean sheet.”

Romagnoli also spoke of his pairing in defence with goalscorer Cristian Zapata, of whom he has praised for his experience.

“He [Zapata] is a very experienced player,” said Romagnoli.

“He has played in Italy for many years now and he knows how to handle certain situations. I work really well with him, but also with others.

“For example there is also Rodrigo Ely, who I believe will become a really strong player.”

The Italian then concluded, focusing on Milan’s ambitions this season.

“We’re starting slowly.”

“Talk of the Scudetto is still far away, our goal at the moment is to obtain a Champions League spot.”
