CO5DI6wWsAEm6PaSampdoria beat Bologna 2-0 on Monday night in Serie A at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The hosts took control after the Rossoblu had a man sent off in the 62nd minute and Eder and Roberto Soriano found the late goals to give Samp the win.

Bologna almost opened the scoring within the first 10 minutes when Franco Brienza’s excellent free-kick hit the bar.

The Felsinei could have taken the lead in the 33rd minute when Brienza found Anthony Mounier but his air shot from close range let Samp off the hook.

Bologna continued to push forwards before half-time and substitute Luca Rizzo was unable to get onto the end of another low cross that slid across the greasy goalmouth.

Godfred Donsah fired a powerful shot towards Sampdoria’s goal in first half stoppage time but Emiliano Viviano got down well and held the strike, meaning the sides went into the break with the game goalless.

The second half got off to a slow start with both sides struggling to create much.

Eder forced a fingertip save from Antonio Mirante just before the hour and the Italian international’s strike from distance enlivened proceedings.

Minutes later Bologna were reduced to 10 men when Sampdoria loanee Rizzo picked up a second yellow card for pulling Soriano’s shirt.

Luis Muriel squandered a brilliant opportunity after nutmegging Domenico Maietta only to put his shot the wrong side of the post.

Sampdoria took the lead in the 74th minute when Muriel played a diagonal ball to Eder who stayed on his feet despite contact inside the box to slide the ball past Mirante and into the bottom corner.

Soriano sealed the win minutes later by smashing the ball into the top right corner from distance after Joaquin Correa created space for his Italian team-mate with some good trickery.

The win sends an unbeaten Sampdoria up to third while Bologna are 19th and yet to pick up a point.
