Sampdoria on Wednesday hoping to get back to winning ways.

The Giallorossi hosted Sassuolo at the weekend, with a wonder goal by Mohamed Salah only being enough for a share of the points but it did maintain Roma’s unbeaten start to the season.

The first goal of the game against Sassuolo was scored by Francesco Totti, who thus reached 300 goals for the club. What would be worrying for Roma fans, however, is that their team have once again failed to win at home. Last season it was home draws that cost Roma a chance of winning the scudetto, including a streak of seven straight home draws last year.

Sampdoria, meanwhile, come into the match after a bad 2-0 defeat in Torino, and sit mid-table with seven points. Il Doria have been inconsistent this season, falling at the first hurdle in the Europa League to Vojvodina but  for example earning a creditable draw at Napoli.

Coach Walter Zenga will be delighted that Sampdoria are back at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to play Roma as Sampdoria are undefeated in 19 of their last 21 home matches in Serie A.

Roma coach Rudi Garcia will play with the usual 4-3-3 formation and a boost for the Giallorossi is that Miralem Pjanic has shown he is back to full fitness and should start.

Samp will once again be without full backs Lorenzo De Silvestri and Mattia Cassani, meaning young Pedro Pereira is in line to start. Angelo Palombo is also struggling with a back problem and may be kept out of the team as a precaution.
