Soccer: serie A, Sassuolo-Chievo VeronaSassuolo and Chievo continued their good form this season by drawing 1-1 at the Mapei Stadium in match day six of Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

An early goal by Gregoire Defrel gave the Neroverdi the lead only three minutes into the game, but Alberto Paloschi brought the Flying Donkeys on level terms 20 minutes later with his fourth goal of the season.

The home team got on the board when Chievo’s goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri failed to deal with an attempt from Antonio Floro Flores, giving the Frenchman Defrel an opportunity off the rebound, which he capitalized on and put his team in front.

The Flying Donkeys pushed for an equaliser and a well orchestrated attack gave Perparim Hetemaj a clear chance from the edge of the box after 11 minutes, but his shot went painfully close over the crossbar of Sassuolo’s goal.

The goal finally came after 24 minutes, when Chievo capitalised on poor marking by Sassuolo on a corner and Paloschi got on the end of a Simone Pepe’s cross with a header and left little chance for Bizzarri to react.

Ten minutes later, Defrel put the ball in the net after making a good run behind the Flying Donkeys’ defence, but the goal was unjustly ruled off for offside.

Five minutes into the second half, Domenico Berardi went for the spectacular with a volley from inside the box, but his strong shot went straight into Bizzarri, who again failed to hold on to the ball initially but then recovered.

That was everything report-worthy in the contest until the added time of the match, when Sassuolo’s substitute Nicola Sansone put a shot on target with a first-touch volley, but Bizzarri did well to hold the ball and preserve the point for his team.
