Sampdoria defender Matias Silvestre spoke of his regrets at the team’s poor first half display and eventual 2-0 loss to Torino on Sunday in Serie A.

Fabio Quagliarella notched a brace in just six minutes within the opening half hour, as the Blucerchiati struggled to overcome a strong Granata team, putting the home side up to second place behind Inter in the league table.

“We had prepared for the match to play on the counterattack, but we lacked a bit of aggression,” Silvestre said to journalists after the game.

“In the second half we were able to do much better, we had thought of sitting deep and then to set off at speed with our forwards.”

The Argentine continued his reflection of a better second half and the need to perform that way against Roma on Wednesday.

“We must now think about the next game to be played in three days and share the attitude that we had in the second half,” he said.
