Saphir Taider BolognaBologna midfielder Saphir Taider insists that he is very happy to be back following an unsuccessful spell at Inter.

The Algerian left the Rossoblu in 2013 for the Nerazzurri but failed to establish himself as a a regular first-team player at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza before loans away at Southampton and Sassuolo.

“I was a kid when I came here, I had two good seasons and then I was called up for the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations,” said Taider at his official presentation.

“I went to Inter and I’ve matured, but now I’m glad to be back.

“I know the environment, I had other opportunities and I had to think hard but by talking with my family I realised that the best choice was to come back here, I am very motivated to do well.”

The former Sassuolo player also explained why he chose the No.8 shirt on his return, as well as giving an update on his fitness.

“I’ve worn the No.8 shirt with Algeria and I know that it was Giacomo Bulgarelli’s number so it’s not a trivial matter,” added Taider.

“I do not want to compare myself to him, the important thing is to honour the shirt as I always have and I can reassure everybody that I will always look to leave it soaked in sweat.

“Physically I’m fine but not at 100 per cent, I took part in all of the pre-season preparations with Inter and I played in some friendlies.”
